Waitlist of 4,000 projects and counting
Illinois renewable energy grew rapidly in the past few years - with 25,000 new clean energy projects saving consumers money and creating jobs in every part of the state. But lack of funding has stalled growth and left more than 4,000 projects stuck on a waitlist. The maps below detail the completed and waitlisted projects by zipcode and legislative district. Without new legislation this year, wind and solar growth will grind to a halt in Illinois.

About the map:
More than 25,000 solar and wind projects were approved by the Adjustable Block Program between 2017 and 2021. The maps use public data from the Illinois Power Agency’s Adjustable Block Program (https://illinoisabp.com/project-map/)
The legislative district map estimates district totals by counting all projects in the zip codes that are part of the legislative district. Because geographic data on utility-scale wind and solar projects was not publicly available, the map does not include those projects.
